Flew into Orlando. Drove to Ocala. Before checking into the hotel, my friend and I wanted stop at Harry’s for my birthday. Harry’s was highly recommended. Bad decision to come here. My friend said “ it’s her birthday”. We sat at the bar and the dark haired female bartender replied with “ what are you drinking?”. We ordered dinner. Food was good. Service was not. Not once did she ask if the food was good. Not one ask about anything. She gave us the check. No ´happy birthday’ acknowledgment, no smile, no ´thanks for coming in’, or do you want dessert. We went to use the restroom before leaving the restaurant ´. She looked right at us. Not one comment to thank us or a ´goodnight’. I am moving to the area and planned on being a regular. Not happening. Rude, unwelcoming. Disappointed.
I stopped in here for dinner. The staff was friendly and efficient. The food was delicious. I had Harry's Original Gumbo and Cajun Seared Tuna. I really, really liked them. Did I mention the bread. Hot out of the oven and marvelous. Nina was my server and she had great timing. I will be back.
I recently dined at Harry's Seafood Bar and Grille in Ocala, and overall, it was a great experience! We started with their famous crab cake and calamari as appetizers. The crab cake lived up to its reputation, being flavorful and well-prepared. The calamari was also good, although it was a little on the salty side for my taste. Still, both appetizers came out quickly and were served warm, which was nice. For the main course, I had the blackened mahi mahi with specialty rice and veggies. The fish was cooked perfectly, with a nice blackened seasoning that wasn't overpowering. It paired well with the rice and veggies, making for a satisfying dish. To drink, I had a margarita, which was refreshing and well-balanced. The service was prompt and friendly, the inside of the restaurant has nice lighting and the interior was rustic adding to the overall enjoyable experience. I'd definitely recommend Harry's for a casual, tasty seafood meal!
The she crab soup was really good. The boudin balls were very meaty and flavorful. The jambalaya was just ok, kind of had a ketchupy flavor and the chicken was well overcooked. All in all though I'd go back, definitely for the soup!
It has been some time since we have been to Harry's in Ocala. We started with our favorite, the Calamari. It was cooked perfectly but I swear the Remoulade sauce served with it is the star, I could dip everything in that! We both had the Chicken Cobb Salad and they were great. I had mine with grilled chicken and had blue cheese, which is one of my favorites but this dressing seemed a little sweeter than I liked however you could tell it was made from scratch. My husband had his salad with the fried chicken and honey mustard. He really enjoyed it. Kayla was our server and very sweet. She was also attentive to our needs. We did have to wait for over a half hour for our salads and feel maybe their must have been some kind of mix up in the kitchen to contribute to such a long wait. We always enjoy Harry's and look forward to going back.
