I’m moving to the area and stopped by with my husband and daughters to get some halal food while we look around for houses. Let me tell you all something….this is by far the BEST food I’ve ever eaten in my life. The flavor, the serving size was just out of this world! It is hard to find this kind of food and this place is going to be the reason we move. I don’t think I want to cook again lol. The staff was so attentive and nice and made us feel so welcome. It gave me such a good feeling about the city overall. I’m sure the entire menu is delicious but you guys need to try the oxtail with rice and peas, the stew chicken, jerk chicken , and don’t forget dessert! They have the tastiest lemon cake and coffee cake all made fresh in house. We dined in and it was very cozy, well kept, and clean. I’m counting down the days till we move and I will be back very soon for more!

I recently visited Tropical Delight in Ocala and was impressed by how clean and neat the restaurant looked upon entering. The menu was easy to read, though a few items were missing. The ordering process was quick and smooth, and I was told my jerk chicken meal with roti would take about 10 minutes. To my surprise, it was ready in just 5 minutes, although the restaurant wasn’t too busy at the time.
Once I got home, the food was still piping hot and smelled incredible. The jerk chicken was exceptionally tender, falling right off the bone with amazing flavor. I almost didn’t want to share it with my wife—I’m generally a sharing person, but sometimes there are exceptions! The rice was perfectly portioned and packed with flavor. The only downside for me was the cabbage. It had a bit too much oil, which transferred onto other parts of the meal, slightly affecting the overall taste. Packaging it separately would have likely fixed this issue.
The roti, on the other hand, was soft, hot, and had a nice general flavor with a hint of spice. Overall, I give this meal a solid 4.9 out of 5.0 stars and will definitely be back. My total came to just over $22, which felt reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food.

Final edit: I stopped by the store to ask for Heather and she apologized for the experience I had with the food and offered a different meal which she suggested jerk chicken, rice and peas and macaroni cheese as the a popular option. She allowed me to sample to jerk chicken prior to serving me the meal and even added a patty to make up for the troubles. The meal today was significantly better than in the past. I would give them another shot just on the customer service and willingness in store to make things right. Clean store, good people.
Second time trying here tried to give the benefit of the doubt after ordering oxtail the first time and receiving giant slabs of oxtail damn near the whole tail. Today ordered curry goat ZERO FLAVOR ZERO SEASONING, GRAVY LEAKING EVERYWHERE AND WORST IT WAS A MIX OF CHICKEN AND GOAT NOT CURRY GOAT. Good friendly people but the food leaves a lot to be desired.
Edit: I'll retract my comment on good friendly people based on your response. No authentic Jamaican restaurant serves oxtails the way you do. The meal was served to go and taken 30 minutes away to be eaten at what point was I as a first time guest to look into a crystal ball and know the food would be served so horribly. THE CURRY GOAT WAS A MIXED PLATE WITH CHICKEN MIXED WITH GOAT. Acknowledge where your food is bad and make appropriate changes do not deflect on your paying customers as if they are at fault for your terrible cooking. Gave you all the benefit of the doubt after the first horrendous meal hoping things would have gotten better and your response made the experience even worst. You could marinate that food for 30 days if there is no flavor in the marinade it would still be flavorless which the food was

Very nice and clean establishment with a friendly and inviting atmosphere. The ordering process was simple, the service was very kind and helpful. We got the chicken curry which had a nice spice and was quite tender and fell off the bone. The cabbage was excellent with a great flavor, the plantains were all around tasty but the rice seemed a little dry. The other item was oxtail with a sweet tangy sauce that was excellent.
We were also given extra jerk chicken which was very good and much appreciated. Service was a little to frequent but was nonetheless friendly and passionate about providing the beat service possible!
The food is Halal certified for those concerned as well.
Would recommend to those who are interested in this cuisine and new foods more generally!
